Birthday Boy!

So Friday night was too poppin’. Just about everyone was in attendance for Will’s 20th birthday, and for the most part the night went just right.  Good spot in the Bronx with chill people and good vibes.  Music was bumping and bottles were being popped; The strippers even came out.  All in all it was a great night, and we’re happy to have some photos to remember it by.  Shout outs to everyone who came through for my partner in crime.  More photos at the jump. Kanye West Announces His New Company, “Donda”

Kanye West has officially announced the launch of his new design company, DONDA, set to create “products and experiences” for people. The company will be comprised of 22 different divisions, including architects, graphic designers, directors, producers, social media experts, publishers, lawyers, nutritionists, scientists, DJ’s, doctors, teachers, A&R’s, and more. Through a 5 hour long rant of tweets, Kanye said that he plans to “help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel.”

He also clarified that his upcoming women’s clothing line will not be named “DW” after his mother, Dr. Donda West, “The name of the line is Kanye West not DW… the DW was a design element placed on the invite in homage to my mom.” All the proceeds from his hit albums have been invested in his entire endeavor within the fashion world.  This concept is so respectable because he has no one backing him; he is using money out of his own pocket to fund the products, fashion shows, and everything in between.  He said he’s been working on it for 8 years.

In addition, he offered a personal recount on his deep dedication in fashion, asserting that his international reputation has been rather an obstacle than help. “For the first 16 or 17 years of my life the only thing I knew about my woman’s clothing was what my Mom would wear. I guess some critics would joke that I still don’t know anything LOL. The teachers said I couldn’t focus… I used to get kicked out of class for bringing dirty mags and drawing Nikeys in 4th grade…Being a celebrity has afforded me many opportunities but has also boxed me in creatively.” Kanye also made the point that, “What good is fame and prestige if you can’t use it to help people… I want to help by doing what I know how to do best .. create.”

Furthermore, Kanye stated that he intends to reshape the American school system. That includes starting a summer school with director Spike Jonze. “There are so many broken systems from the economy to school systems jail systems… we need experts for this.” This plan is super ambitious; if he pulls this off this will completely solidify the fact that this man is a genius.  YEEZY TAUGHT ME.

What Does The T-Shirt Mean To You?

I know I’ve been posting a lot of videos lately. But whatever, I try to put my writing into it for my own creative edge. And we post quality here so watch ’em.

The T-Shirt is an incredible thing, man.  It’s a canvas, a vehicle for people like me to create a brand and get their ideas and feelings out in a fashionable and artistic way. I make tees, and I’m proud of that. Tees are such basic and understated pieces that can stand for so much; it’s incredible. Something that so many people try to do, but only few can do it successfully. SmoothNYC will be successful, mark my words. This video is just a snippet of what’s to come for the hardcover book from T-World Magazine, coming soon. Definite cop for me. Tees Bitch!!

Interview With NosViesNYC

I recently got the opportunity to sit down with my guy Ralphy Vies of NosViesNYC, an up and coming fashion designer who has been making major moves as of late, especially with the Spring/Summer “Bonjour Collection” we blogged about a month or two ago.  I took the chance to ask Ralphy a few things.

Kev: What does Nos Vies mean and what inspires the concept of your brand?

Ralphy: NosViesNYC means “Our Lives” in French. What this means is we are putting our lives into the clothing we make.  The NosViesNYC clothing line represents one’s individuality. We emphasize this aspect by using creativity to express our thoughts, moods, and experiences. To sum it all up, NosViesNYC represents our lives.

How long have you been in the fashion game?

We haven’t been in the fashion game for long. We’ll be in the game for a year next month; We have recently launched our first season, “Bonjour,” and are currently working on a second season.

What was your mission as you started NosViesNYC?

The goal is to achieve, which lead the name ‘Nos Vies.’  Our mission is to share our lifestyle through our passion for fashion.  Nos Vies NYC are clothing pieces that symbolize art as opposed to just clothhing.

Explain the Rosepole logo.

The Rosepole logo is comprised of two parts, a rose which symbolizes life and the pole symbolizing a ladder which we are aiming to make it to the top of in the fashion industry.

What are you working on right now?

Currently we are working on the winter season. It’ll be epic stay tuned!

Where do you see NosViesNYC in the future?

The plans for the future is just to expand, the sky isn’t the limit for us anymore.

What do you two bring to the table?

Simple: We bring creativity.

What does style mean to you, and how do you think the fashion game is developing?

Style is basically is the way one feels about themselves and how they choose to express him or herself.  As for the development of the game, it’s pretty dope. You have name brands such as Bape & Supreme just coming out with hit after hit, their seasons are real dope which helps us out as fashion designers to work harder and keep grinding.

What is next for you guys?

What next for us? The moon, we heading for the top!
