SmoothNYC x Private Stock “LOCALS ONLY” Snapbacks

In our first official collab, we linked up with our friends over at Private Stock to make this new snapback.  Being that we’re both home grown brands, we decided to share our “Locals Only” concept with them for this product.  Limited quantities available, so make sure you get yours ASAP. The release date will be posted this weekend.  Did I mention we have a crewneck to match? Bring the cold season in with style, people.  Stay Smooth.

Haze x G-Shock – 30th Anniversary in NYC

Eric Haze truly inspires me so much.  A visionary, a revolutionary, and most importantly, an incredible artist.  Haze was one of the originators, who took his love for graffiti and hip-hop culture and brought it into the concept of skate, surf, and consumer culture.  His style is something I admire and try to emulate every day; understated simplicity in the more artistic way.  Arrows and stars, clean handwriting, pure creativity.

G-Shock and prolific artist Haze will present a major exhibition and release event in downtown Manhattan this Friday. With support of Casio, the artist organized a 25 year retrospective of the HAZE brand, which includes a variety of product collaborations with various brands along the way. The opening is set to feature the launch of the 4th signature “HAZE x G-Shock” model, which will be the first release of the brand’s 30th anniversary collection. The exhibition is set to include framed silkscreens, embroideries, baseball caps, clothing, footwear, furniture, toys, and more. The opening will be held this Friday night at SOLO on 40 Broad Street in New York City, and features this video produced by Haze and Showcobra going through 25 years of archives in preparation for the show.

True Artistry. Smooth.

Rare Addiction Foamposite Snapback

If you think the standard 6-panel strapback caps have grown too pedestrian for your collection, Rare Addiction might just have the answer. Constructed around a cotton 6-panel base, this “Worth Every Penny” cap features a custom foam upper brim, and an additionally custom carbon fiber for the belt strap closure. The cap is finished with metallic silver embroidery with punchy neon orange accent. While the cap isn’t expected to be available until October 31, you can still get your preorder in here, direct from Rare Addiction.

Never Say Die

All of the hype over high-end fashion and designers may be a long lasting trend that has sprung up as of late, but Complex Magazine (as usual) has it right with this list of reasons why streetwear is still alive.  This list hold near and dear to my heart because streetwear and what Smooth represents is roots and loyalty.  Streetwear is more than just t-shirts and snapbacks; these pieces hold messages and stories that sometimes only the designers can truly see.  Nevertheless, I’ll leave you guys with one final though.  STREETWEAR WILL NEVER, EVER DIE.

Believe that. & Check The List HERE.

JANSPORT X STAPLE DESIGN

Growing up, Jansport was the brand on every kid’s back.  Now that we are older, fashion is a staple in a lot of our lives. No pun intended.  Out long-time nostalgic friends at Jansport have teamed up with Jeff Staple and the people at Reed Space on this collaboration design as a part of their limited edition “Jansport Right Packs,” in which Jansport has teamed up with 21 different lifestyle boutiques around the world.  This bookbag really takes me back to childhood, but with a grown-up stylish twist to it.  Leave it to Jeff Staple to be clever and creative enough to describe today’s youth as, “Highly Edumacted.”

Levi Maestro : STRO | Spot 1

Once again, Levi Maestro is on the SmoothNYC website.  This time it is with his new brand in which he calls, “STRO.”  This is the first commercial video shot by filmmaker Zach McTee, who always does a great job with his visuals.  Levi Maestro’s message is all about being yourself and doing what you genuinely love and giving it your.  He instills this message in STRO through the concept, “Make What You Love.”  STRO currently consists of snapbacks, tees, skate decks, with a lot more to come.  Once again, shouts to Levi and the launch of this new brand.
